Aaron Bertrand was born on July 31st, 1982. Born in Toronto’s Jane and Finch area, Aaron was raised in Toronto’s west end. Throughout high school, Aaron’s love for skateboarding and snowboarding led to his discovery of and interest in getting behind the camera to capture the adrenalin rush on film. He quickly realized that he needed to pursue this love professionally and embark on a career in film production, following in Spike Jonze’s path of moving from skate videos to music videos.

After graduating high school, Aaron began working on film sets as a Production Assistant, Grip, and Electric as he began working his way up the ladder. Soon Aaron was landing jobs as a Key Grip, Dolly Grip and Gaffer. These opportunites gave him great hands-on experience and practical knowledge of filmmaking. Upon graduating from the Toronto Film School, Aaron felt he was still lacking the knowledge to pursue his dream of directing and bringing his own visions to the screen. He then enrolled in Sheridan College’s post-graduate program in Advanced Television and Film, where he mastered in cinematography.

After graduating from Sheridan at the age of 22, Aaron was introduced to Jelleestone an up and coming Toronto rapper with a major label record deal. Aaron went on to direct, produce, shoot, and edit his first video, which was broadcast nationally on MuchMusic and spent several weeks in Rapcity's Top 10. After the success of his first video, Aaron realized that his hard work had begun to pay off. What he did the following year was unthinkable.

Aaron immediately got his hustle on. Taking on the role of director, producer, cinematographer and editor, Aaron was able to shoot 24 videos in one year, with 5 of them making appearances on major national broadcasts. In 2007, he landed a gig to go on tour with Nelly Furtado and film the tour for a documentary and DVD of her live show.

Developing a great relationship with Nelly and her manager, Chris Smith, Aaron was given the opportunity to shoot a video for "Do It" the 5th single off Nelly’s #1 worldwide smash selling album "Loose". Nelly and Aaron co-directed, with Aaron doing all of the shooting and editing. The video was a great success, climbing to # 1 on VH1, MTV’s TRL, Much Music’s Countdown and MuchMoreMusic’s Countdown. The video also hit #1 in various other territories around the world. The video has been viewed over 10 million times online. After the video, Aaron then put together the live DVD to be released along with a live album compilation of Nelly's world tour.

While Aaron is still in the infancy of his career and has just started scratching the surface of his potential, he has quickly amassed an impressive resume. Most recently, Aaron has worked with artists such as Jully Black, Jarvis Church, Rides Again, Let’s Go To War, Kreesha Turner, and up and coming pop-punk starlet Shiloh. Able to fulfill the roles of cinematographer and editor, Aaron has a leg up on a lot of other directors. With his raw, naturally great eye for composition and editing, Aaron (now 25) is taking the world of music videos by storm and has quickly become a force to be reckoned with.
